************END NOTE************
I want to preface this by making it perfectly clear that much of what was originally "leaked out" in game by NPCs concerning Yuriqen has since been "rescinded". Right now about all that is known regarding Yuriqen from any kind of "officially-backed" standpoint is that it was/is the great sylvan "home" city in the trees, that it was/is formed within "seven modwirs", that it was/is surrounded by a thick, lush forest known as the "Silver Veil", and that according to legend it was cursed and made totally inaccessible, which it remains to this day.
With that out of the way, let me explain some of the original information that did come out about Yuriqen in game at some point or other. The merchant Filifor was the very first to mention Yuriqen, the sylvan city of breathtaking beauty existing high in the trees. It was Filifor who first spoke of the "Seven Modwirs", explaining how the secret city might be found by outsiders if the location of the seven ancient modwirs were found. Filifor was also the first to speak of the "great curse" that had been laid upon Yuriqen. The tale was of an extremely powerful dark elven sorcerer who, for a reason never fully specified, became intensely angry at the sylvans of Yuriqen and wished to punish them. The punishment he devised was devious and devastating. He cursed the seven modwirs, and some interpreted the story to mean he cursed all of the Silver Veil itself, with a form of disease which slowly destroyed the health of those trees. As the trees die, the legend goes, so do sylphs of Yuriqen... slowly and painfully. Also as part of this curse, the sorcerer -- through some foul means of dark magic -- made the city itself inaccessible to all. The story as told back then used the phrasing "none could come in and none could go out." This curse was laid upon Yuriqen so many millennia ago, legend tells, that no living sylvan could ever have set foot within the boundaries of the city. And even the truth of its existence began to be questioned, as it became over time more myth than fact. The merchant Caer much later spoke of a young prince who had "recently" managed to "escape" from Yuriqen. During the Anwyn Castle quest, the NPC Norander was purported to be this prince. If was originally so intentioned, this idea was quickly squelched through official means because no one was supposedly able to "escape" from Yuriqen. And as well sylphs didn't/don't have royalty, being a more communal-minded people. It seemed this little bit of confusion was just a plain ol' "failure to communicate" between several GMs. And in the end, of course, the GM in charge of Yuriqen won out with what could be forwarded in regard to the sylvan city by NPCs. One more "official" slip, however, did occur. An NPC sylph name of Morrin traveled to the Leya Shrine actually to tell the tale of the sword Soulingen. However she explained herself as being from Yuriqen, and spoke of having made a daring escape through the cursed forest surrounding the legendary city. The intent of this NPC was to bring forth the Leya legend, not that of Yuriqen. And again what she had said with regard to the sylph city was officially "pulled back" by the GM in charge of Yuriqen. To make this "rescinding" more logical, that GM forwarded in game the story of the "Holy Sylvan Spirits of Yuriqen" through another NPC. You can read the log of that event on this site. But the purpose of that tale was to forward Morrin as such a "holy spirit" who just didn't realize she was not "living" any longer. As such right now that event is the only one officially recognized as forwarding anything at all about Yuriqen. And that's the recap to date.
