THE OPENING OF THURFEL'S ISLAND
Leyan, day 14 of the month Lumnea in the year 5100

[Subterranean Island, Rocky Spit]
As the island comes to an end, the spit disappears into a line of stones. They offer footing out into the lake a ways, a natural pier with no boats to dock. Every now and then a small wave washes over them, making you think twice about heading too far out. Who knows what manner of great reptilian beast might frequent this cavern?
Also in the room: Journeyman Ilvane, Mirsen, Iansen, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: northwest.

Thurfel stares out into the water with a frown on his face.

Thurfel bows to you.

You say, "Good evening, Lord mage."

Thurfel says, "so good of you to join me this eve milady"

Ilvane leans on you.

You ask, "Have ye been seeking the serpent?"

Ilvane says, "It's resting."

Thurfel asks, "of course, has she arrived?"

Mirsen gulps.

Iansen kneels down.

(Iansen gently places his hand in the water, dragging it back and forth, creating small ripples)

You say, "I have been keeping an eye out, Lord Thurfel, do be assured. But seen her, I have not."

Ilvane asks, "Have you created her yet?"

Ilvane glances at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "This serpent is long ago created"

Skyfawn curtsies.

You nod to Thurfel.

You say, "So I understand."

Thurfel says, "It has been some time since I've been able to..."

Thurfel says, "create anything at all"

Ilvane gazes heavenward.

Iansen asks, "So your creations have all been around for some time?"

You ask, "Something prohibits?"

Iansen glances at Thurfel.

You cock your head at Thurfel.

(Iscikella looks hopeful.)

Thurfel says, "very much so"

Ilvane grins at you.

Thurfel says, "and it is hindering my efforts greatly"

Ilvane says, "Hm..imagine that."

Thurfel looks out at the water with consternation.

You ask, "And can ye speak of what hinders?"

(Iscikella squints into the water.)

Thurfel asks, "It is pretty clear is it not?"

Thurfel says, "The tomb is resisting my every effort"

Thurfel says, "my allies are nowhere to be seen"

Ilvane says, "Hm."

You say, "Hmmm..."

You say, "I cannot say it pains me the tomb resists..."

Thurfel says, "and I'm on the shore of an underground cavern staring at the water like some lovesick maiden"

You ask, "But by yer allies do ye mean those of the snake?"

Ilvane whistles tunelessly to herself.

Mirsen appears to be trying hard not to grin.

You hear the voice of Armaxis ask, "Mm? Has your current courssse of action proved...unsuccessful, Thurfel?"

Thurfel says, "If one is only allied with those of the snake, they would do well to watch their back at all times. I do have others who rally to my cause"

You ask, "Ye do?"

The waters begin to ripple and small waves lap up upon the shore.

You say, "Armaxis, how... unfortunate ye should join us."

Thurfel says, "One does not get to be as old as I am without a few..."

Ilvane smirks.

You cough.

Thurfel says, "shall we say..."

Thurfel says, "friends."

Iansen asks, "Friends?"

Someone hisses in the shadows.

You hear the voice of Tierus say, "Greetin's, all."

You ask, "Ah, friends in high places?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Saphael says, "I suspect he means friend in a different way than you or I would."

Tierus fades into visibility.

Thurfel says, "you might not think them high places milady"

Thurfel grins wickedly.

You smirk.

You say, "Ah, I understand then perhaps."

You hear a deranged cackling nearby.

A disturbance near the shore agitates the water.

Thurfel says, "My purpose is as it has always been"

Ilvane mutters under her breath.

Methais says, "The tomb will not be opened."

Iansen asks, "The storm is beginning now?"

You say, "Thurfel was looking for his serpent this eve."

Iansen glances at Thurfel.

Tierus paces back and forth.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Have you tested out your new creation yet, Thurfel? The worm we talked of lassst."

(Tierus taps the bridge of his nose in frustration.)

Vyndor says, "Ahhh, good ol Armaxis"

Thurfel says, "nay Armaxis, I was unable to find a suitable place to work"

Vyndor shakes his head.

You ask, "So, Lord Thurfel, are yer friends... mighty then shall we say?"

Arimantis rubs his chin thoughtfully.

You ask, "Rather than high?"

Tierus says, "Oh, there's 'is serpent!" He gestures to the invisible serpent in the shadows. "Well... nae an obsidian one, bu'..."

Thurfel says, "my friends are not without their skills"

Ilvane grins at Tierus.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Mm, understandable, yesss..."

You say, "I imagine."

You stare at Thurfel.

Bubbles rise to the top of the water, and ripple the nearby sea.

The crab skitters northwest.

You ask, "Bubbles?"

You say, "Something breathing in there."

Tierus says, "Ah wis dragged 'way frem me kobold trainin' fer..." His voice cuts off at the bubbling in the water. "Bubbles an' crabs?"

(Iscikella looks closely into the water.)

(Ilvane glances out in the water with some trepidation)

Tierus blinks.

Tierus begins to twitch.

Iansen moves to stand in front of Mirsen.

Ilvane asks, "A big snake?"

Thurfel says, "I do so like those crabs"

Iansen says, "Stay back..."

Thurfel says, "in any case..."

Methais says, "I'm sure you do."

Mirsen says, "Don't worry"

Thurfel says, "the tomb is a formality"

Thurfel says, "stubborn as it is"

Tierus peers quizzically at Thurfel.

You ask, "A formality?"

Thurfel says, "and I will free the council"

Thurfel nods to you.

You say, "I know ye see it as an obstacle only..."

Saphael scowls at Thurfel.

You say, "That I understand from what ye have said before."

The waters begin to ripple and churn.

You ask, "Is this yer meaning?"

Tierus leans forward.

(Tierus glances into the murky water.)

Iansen says, "I sense something not right..."

(Arimantis glances over at the water)

Tierus leans forward.

Tierus rocks back on his heels.

Ilvane says, "Why is it we stand here for a long time and nothing moves.."

Thurfel says, "I must free the council"

(Iscikella gazes uncertainly into the water.)

Iansen glances at you.

Iansen says, "They're warning us, Iscikella"

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "The shadowsss conceal much, for they do not like strangers gazing at their secretsss..." The voice laughs quietly, and then speaks again, "But soon we shall see what lives deep within these shadowed caverns."

Ripples of pure darkness roll out from an unseen source.

(Mirsen stares uneasily into the water.)

You say, "The water is most active certainly."

Tierus shivers.

The water begins to boil, large waves slapping high upon the shore.

Tierus exclaims, "Tha shadows!"

Tierus cowers.

Saphael nods to you.

Ilvane rolls her eyes.

8 crystalline crabs skitter in.

A crab shifts its whiskers, looking for something.

A crystalline crab swivels its eyestalks around and clacks its pincers menacingly.
A crystalline crab claws at Thurfel!
AS: +65 vs DS: +1019 with AvD: +38 + d100 roll: +12 = -904
A clean miss.
A crystalline crab swivels its eyestalks around and clacks its pincers menacingly.

******OOC Note here: I edited out all of the critter attacks except the one at Thurfel, which I found interesting. I condensed the entrances of the critters to give everyone an idea how numerous they were.******

5 crystalline crabs skitter in.

(Saphael takes a step back from the shore.)

A crystalline crab skitters in.

Mirsen blinks.

(Arimantis takes a step back from the water)

You say, "Oh my."

Tierus says, "Bah."

Ilvane says, "Hm.."

10 crystalline crabs skitter in.

Ilvane says, "Active crabs."

Tierus says, "So MANY."

Aelphaba says, "they are so pretty."

Chantreuse says, "Impressive, Thurfel"

Arimantis says, "Well, you wanted dinner.."

Arimantis leans on Ilvane.

You say, "Goodness, Lord Thurfel."

Thurfel peers out well into the sea.

You say, "They have multiplied."

2 crystalline crabs skitter in.

Methais says, "A commander of crustaceons."

2 crystalline crabs skitter in.

Chantreuse asks, "you did this, Thurfel?"

Tierus says, "Gods."

Vyndor asks, "Hmmm, Thurfel has crabs, huh?"

Vyndor says, "err makes, I mean"

Ilvane chuckles.

A crystalline crab skitters in.

Methais raises an eyebrow in Thurfel's direction.

Tierus asks, "Thurfel, wha' are ye doin'?"

Tierus glances at Thurfel.

Tierus shudders.

You say, "Goodness, Lord Thurfel, ye have done something to make them resist the cold then."

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "As I have said..."

You ask, "The crabs?"

The multi-faceted shell of this oversized crab resembles a massive oval gem. Underneath the protective covering are its formidable claws and pincers, the front pair easily the largest. The creature's eyestalks peer about nervously at even the slightest sound.

Thurfel says, "my patience is running thin, and my anger is boiling over, never has so little thwarted my plans"

Tierus says, "Bah."

A crystalline crab skitters in.

Thurfel says, "The seal is some fell magic indeed"

You say, "The spirit of Talbot is not "little", lord mage."

You say, "Surely ye have already seen this."

You smirk.

Thurfel says, "ah well, perhaps that is true milady"

Thurfel says, "but I shall break it to be sure"

Setzier rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Methais says, "And it will be sealed again if so."

You ask, "With the help of yer "friends"?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "of course"

Thurfel kneels down.

(Saphael kicks a bit of crab debris aside.)

Thurfel traces a rune into the shore.

You ask, "Is one of these friends, Amaslen himself, Lord Thurfel?"

Arimantis glances at Thurfel.

Tierus wipes the sweat from his brow.

Setzier says, "I'd bother not with these of the horrid Faith, Thurfel. Their only goal is to delay the seal opening - treat them like you would ants."

(Iscikella glances down at the rune.)

Tierus says, "Tha crab pro'lem is... finished, fer now."

Tierus glances at Setzier.

Iansen covers his Ronan ring with his hand.

Tierus says, "Come now, Setzier. Ye mus' admit tha' ye like us."

Thurfel touches his staff to the runes.

Tierus says, "We... ants."

You ask, "What is that rune?"

Setzier shifts his eyes to Tierus.

Thurfel stands up.

You squint at Thurfel.

Methais narrows his eyes.

Ilvane waves a hand at Setzier, dismissing him indifferently.

Chantreuse asks, "what has he started?"

Huge waves rock the sea to and fro, the spray drenching those on the shore.

You glance at Setzier.

You hear the voice of Armaxis ask, "Perhapsss...a summoning, hmm?"

Ilvane flails her arms about.

(Setzier glances across the rocky terrain towards Ilvane, his eyes appearing to focus on her neck.)

You hear someone laughing softly nearby.

3 sea trolls amble in.

(Arimantis glances down at the rune in the sand)

2 sea trolls amble in.

You say, "Now we have jackals here too it seems."

2 sea trolls amble in.

Methais exclaims, "R'gnaolar ghrumri r'riar 'ght 'tghulorluror'p ton larlor'raghs lurlar'mris 'lur'rivr r'ruo!"

A sea troll ambles in.

Huge and dangerous, the sea troll towers above even a tall giantman. Grey skin so thick that it serves quite well as armor covers most of the troll, with tufts of thick hair sprouting here and there like weeds between cracked stones. A hideous grin splits its face displaying fangs crusted with dried blood and less guessable matter. No light of intellect glows in its narrow piggish eyes. The lust for slaughter and thirst for blood are what drive this hulkish beast's existence.

5 sea trolls amble in.

Setzier rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Iansen says, "Oh dear..."

Setzier says, "Ingenious creations, if I do say so myself."

Setzier nods to Thurfel.

Methais exclaims, "Vr'rarg r'ruo r'vro d'kr'ran 'nrad larlor'riw ir!"

You say, "Rather ugly trolls."

Setzier leans back.

Methais exclaims, "Lartnram noirtird'da cirn ra karm lorlurirw r'plarras our'r!"

You ask, "Lord Thurfel, what is the purpose the rune?"

(Iscikella looks at Thurfel rather intensely.)

Setzier glances at a crude cowrie-shell armband.

Tierus says, "Studying."

Methais yells, "Sr'r'rwr'ralars 'ght lorlur'ra larlor'rikr."

Tierus says, "Bah."

You reach out and touch a crude cowrie-shell armband.

You say, "Rather interesting."

Haelra glances at Thurfel.

You pick up a crude cowrie-shell armband.

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Ilvane nods to you.

Thurfel says, "it would appear the seas themselves have allied with me of sort"

Joshell says, "Good eve."

Haelra asks, "What brings ya here Thurfel?"

Chantreuse peers quizzically at Thurfel.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Summoning, indeed."

Thurfel smiles at Haelra.

Ilvane smirks.

You say, "I thought ye could no longer summon or control yer serpent however, Lord Thurfel."

Ilvane says, "Sure the seas are with you."

Ilvane gazes heavenward.

The head of Joshell's coiled asp opens its slitted eyes, flicks its tongue lazily, and hisses.

You ask, "Do ye expect this has changed?"

Haelra says, "Surely not an attempt to overtake us again"

Thurfel says, "the same thing that has brought me here for what seems an eternity"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "if I wished to overtake you, it would be similar to squishing an ant"

Haelra raises an eyebrow in Thurfel's direction.

Thurfel says, "but tis not my desire."

Haelra asks, "You don't want to be here?"

Iansen says, "Nice craftmanship for a troll..."

Setzier nods to Thurfel.

You say, "Whatever lies beyond the tomb interests him, Haelra."

Ilvane nods to Iansen.

Methais asks, "And this...council. What do you expect to accomplish with them?"

You stare at Thurfel.

Haelra says, "I'd just like to hear it from him"

Haelra winks at you.

Thurfel says, "I merely seek to open the tomb and free the council"

Thurfel says, "tis hardly a secret"

Ilvane says, "You said you didn't care about them last time."

You say, "Merely..."

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "A most noble goal, yesss.."

You scoff at Thurfel.

Methais asks, "And once the Council is freed?"

Methais peers quizzically at Thurfel.

Ilvane says, "You were out for yourself."

(Setzier idly taps his forefinger to his chin.)

Thurfel says, "I don't, but they may aid me in my quest"

You say, "Do not try and trick me, lord mage."

Arimantis asks, "Was your goal not what lies beyond the tomb?"

A few ripples disturb the sea, odd shadows darting to and fro.

Haelra asks, "And why's that Thurfel?"

Thurfel says, "aye, my goal is indeed what lies behind the tomb"

(Iscikella glances into the dark waters again nervously.)

(Arimantis glances at the shadows in the water)

Methais asks, "And what exactly is your quest? What do you hope to accomplish in the end?"

(Iscikella pulls her skirt away from the water's edge.)

Thurfel says, "but my goal first is what is in the tomb."

Methais says, "After the council is freed, if they do get freed."

You ask, "Well, to get to what lies beyond a door, once must first open a door, yes?"

(Setzier glances towards the ocean.)

Iansen says, "These shadows... don't speak"

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "It is only a matter of time until they are freed. Patience...isss a virtue."

Ilvane asks, "Have you thought that they may turn on you? Seeing you have been free why they have been imprisoned?"

Ilvane peers quizzically at Thurfel.

Methais scowls.

(Saphael stands carefully behind Iscikella.)

The sea begins to team with leagues of black shadows.

Haelra says, "Seems Thurfel's rather quiet tonight"

Ilvane says, "Just a thought."

Thurfel smiles.

You say, "I do not like the looks of that water."

4 mottled brown sea spiders just skittered in.

Ilvane shrugs.

2 mottled browns sea spider just skittered in.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Yesss...the shadows make themselves known. Too many strangers."

Haelra says, "Perhaps the winds have thankfully taken his voice"

Iansen says, "Spiders..."

4 mottled brown sea spiders just scurried in.

Chian says, "gracious."

6 mottled brown sea spiders just scurried in.

Iansen exclaims, "Flanking manuever, now!"

Ilvane frowns.

Setzier says, "It is obvious those of the water wish the Council released as well; a turn the hand, indeed."

Setzier rubs his chin thoughtfully.

You say, "This creature is a bit more... determined."

A mottled brown sea spider rises on its legs, tucking its abdomen beneath it to aim its spinneret at you!
The webbing catches you in its yards of loops of sticky cords.
Before you know it, you're almost entirely mummified!

Thurfel nods to Setzier.

A mottled brown sea spider tries to bite you!

Strike to the eye penetrates skull, ocular fluid sprays widely!

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...
You mentally give a sigh of relief as you remember that the Goddess Lorminstra owes you a favor.

Arimantis blinks.

Arimantis gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Arimantis gestures at you.
You feel a tingle on your soul, as if a powerful hand is gently cradling it.
(Thy soul is bound to thy body for an extra 18 minutes.)

A mottled brown sea spider just scurried in.

Ilvane glares at Thurfel.

Chian growls ferociously!

6 mottled brown sea spiders just scurried in.

A sea troll just arrived!

2 mottled brown sea spiders just scurried in.

Haelra stares at Thurfel.

Ilvane says, "oH dear.."

3 mottled brown sea spiders just scurried in.

Thurfel smiles at Haelra.

A mottled brown sea spider just scurried in.

Ilvane says, "Iscikella.."

Haelra exclaims, "Must you annoy us with these?!"

Ilvane rubs you gently.

A sea troll kicks your dead body and spits in disgust!

A mottled brown sea spider just scurried in.

A mottled brown sea spider rises on its legs, tucking its abdomen beneath it to aim its spinneret at Setzier!
The webbing catches Setzier in its yards of loops of sticky cords.
Setzier is almost entirely mummified!

You say, "Well, seems yer critters have had a bit of fun with me, Lord Thurfel."

Chian asks, "These your new creations Thurfel?"

5 mottled brown sea spiders scurry northwest.

You say, "But do not think that will stop me from harrying ye in yer goal."

7 mottled brown sea spiders scurry northwest.

Thurfel asks, "new?"

Haelra rolls her eyes.

Setzier says, "That spider has bad aim, I do say so myself." He glances down at the webbing surrounding him with a brief mutter, "Very bad aim."

A sea troll kicks your dead body and spits in disgust!

You hear the voice of Armaxis exclaim, "Yesss...death comes!" A slightly crazed laughter can be heard in the shadows, and the voice speaks again, "May the Serpent Lord's chill embrace surround you!"

Saphael shivers.

Haelra says, "Truly an annoyance"

Ilvane smirks.

Chian rubs you gently.

Ilvane says, "Shut Up Armaxis.."

Ilvane says, "Darn snake."

Thurfel says, "these are hardly new"

Ilvane glowers.

Saphael says, "That is far more spiders than I like to see all in one place."

Haelra says, "So Thurfel.."

Haelra smiles at Thurfel.

Thurfel nods to Haelra.

Haelra asks, "You're so interested in the Tomb, but why are you here?"

Thurfel says, "I have tried a frontal assault on the tomb and failed"

Ilvane sighs.

Thurfel says, "so one does not continue to beat a dead human"

Thurfel says, "you change your tactic"

You say, "Yes, happily you did."

Haelra asks, "Where is this, behind it?"

Thurfel says, "thus I will assault the tomb from another vantage"

Haelra rubs her chin thoughtfully.

You say, "Or a dead halfling's spirit."

(Setzier brushes off the remaining webbing from his cloak.)

Chian asks, "Thurfel, have you given thought to having 9 competitors that are practically of equal footing to you?"

Thurfel asks, "Iscikella, is your death a matter of balance?"

Skyfawn rubs you gently.

You hear the voice of Armaxis ask, "And what are you doing now, Thurfel? Gathering energy or somesuch, isss that what attracts these creatures?"

Thurfel says, "they are not competitors"

Chian asks, "Are you certain?"

Thurfel says, "I have other ideas Armaxix"

Chian smiles at Thurfel.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Mm, I see."

You say, "Obviously inbalance, because I did not adequately defend myself, Lord Thurfel."

You laugh, the sepulchral sound echoing through the room.

Chian says, "It's been a very long time."

Setzier says, "I wonder... Since the sea has interest in the tomb, I ponder if any more have interest in the seal, surely other forces would want a hand - if even in a state of jealously."

Setzier rubs his chin thoughtfully.

You say, "I will give ye that victory."

Thurfel asks, "would that not anger your god Iscikella?"

You say, "Oh, I will give ye no other."

Setzier glances over at you, sizes up your injuries and winces.

Thurfel nods.

You say, "I think she would appreciate the irony."

Haelra glances at Thurfel and paces back and forth.

Ilvane moves to stand in front of Setzier.

You say, "Lumnis is not exactly a dull lady."

You laugh, the sepulchral sound echoing through the room.

The waters oddly still.

Setzier shifts his eyes to Ilvane.

Ilvane stares at Setzier.

Setzier asks, "Ah, Ilvane... how is your neck, dear?"

Setzier flashes a quick grin.

Saphael says, "Oh dear, the stillness worries me more than the waves."

Saphael shivers.

Arimantis stares at Setzier.

Ilvane says, "It's fine."

Ilvane waves a hand at Setzier, dismissing him indifferently.

Skyfawn glances at Setzier.

Setzier laughs!

Thurfel asks, "is there not somebody here to heal you milady, or are you going to rot on this very shore?"

Arimantis moves to stand in front of Ilvane.

You say, "But, Lord Thurfel, obviously there is no balance to the sea tonight."

Thurfel smiles at you.

Setzier glances at you.

You say, "Skyfawn, would ye be kind enough to heal me."

Skyfawn says, "she is too busy asking questions"

Methais says, "You stay here."

Methais nods to the arctic wolf.

Haelra says, "I think we're all as interested as you are in what's behind that tomb, Thurfel.. so what's your plan from here?"

You say, "No, don't fog me."

The arctic wolf growls, "Yes, Master."

Skyfawn meditates over you.
Skyfawn takes your head damage.

You say, "No."

Ilvane grins at Skyfawn.

Skyfawn meditates over you.
Skyfawn takes your left eye damage.

Skyfawn meditates over you.
Skyfawn takes your chest damage.

You ask, "Arimantis would ye raise me, please?"

Thurfel asks, "would it not behoove me to keep my plan to myself, if there are those who seek to thwart me?"

You say, "Thank ye Sky."

Arimantis asks, "Here?"

Skyfawn nods to Ilvane.

Haelra smiles at Thurfel.

You say, "Aye, please, Arimantis."

Saphael says, "You seem to enjoy boasting, Thurfel."

Methais breaks out in a sweat.

Arimantis rubs you gently.

You say, "If ye would."

Arimantis says, "Ok, up ya go"

Chian says, "We are sancted I do believe."

Haelra asks, "Yes, but wouldn't you also wish to have help in opening it?"

Thurfel says, "I am hardly boasting"

Arimantis just touched some intricate ivory prayer beads.

Chantreuse says, "yes, sancted"

Arimantis gestures and utters a phrase of magic.
Arimantis gestures at you.
Arimantis suddenly looks very drained.

You feel a sudden jolt of nothing short of the raw power of divine intervention. For some reason, you cannot bring yourself to move quite yet, but feel relieved nonetheless.

You stand back up.

A few tiny ripples disturb the water.

You say, "Thank ye, Arimantis."

(Setzier glances out the corner of his eye towards the water.)

(Methais glances at the water.)

You recover enough strength to move again.

Setzier grins slowly.

(Saphael makes a small barrier out of the remaining breastplates and prepares to defend himself.)

Kitsun begins chuckling at Thurfel.

A few bubbles quietly ripple to the surface.

Thurfel says, "this is a familiar spot to me."

(Haelra glances at the water)

Haelra asks, "Oh?"

Joshell says, "You look as if you've never seen water before."

You say, "Lord Thurfel, from now on I talk to ye garbed in battle gear."

You chuckle at Thurfel.

The water begins to bubble in numerous spots.

You say, "I will give ye, ye are always surprising, lord mage."

You grin at Thurfel.

(Methais scratches his arctic wolf behind its ears.)

Ilvane smiles.

Haelra asks, "Why is it so familiar to you,Thurfel?"

Thurfel exclaims, "ah!"

Lord Thurfel went across some rough stepping stones.

Setzier raises an eyebrow.

Your jaw drops.

[Raised Stone Path]
Small flat stones jut from the water, closely spaced such that even a halfling could scamper from rock to rock with no difficulty. The water sloshes gently over the path now and again, briefly covering the stones then sliding effortlessly off the smooth surfaces.
Also in the room: Sorkin, Lady Chantreuse, Lady Chian, Lady Haelra, Arimantis, Saphael
Obvious exits: east.

Saphael gasps.

Ripples of pure darkness roll out from an unseen source.

[Raised Stone Path]
The water swells and ebbs in an easy, soft rhythm, occasionally slopping over the sides of the smooth stone path that pokes up from the clear, dark surface of the underground lake. From time to time, a small splash breaks the water, ripples gliding away from the obvious point of disturbance.
Also in the room: Sorkin, Lady Chantreuse, Saphael
Obvious exits: west, northeast.

[Thurfel's Island]
A simple path of smooth, flat stones leads off into the water to the southwest, ending here on a clean, white sandy beach. Small footprints lead in all directions, their paths crossing and recrossing dozens of times before leading off to the north.
Also in the room: Sorkin, Lady Chantreuse, Saphael, Arimantis, Journeyman Ilvane
Obvious exits: north, southwest.

Arimantis gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

[Thurfel's Island]
A very large statue of a very squat halfling has been constructed on the tip of the island. It stands upon a pedestal of polished pink coral, and is made completely from eroded chunks of seaglass. In spite of the odd material used to create the artwork, the piece is quite detailed. You also see a crystalline crab who appears rather calm.
Also in the room: Saphael, Sorkin, Lady Chantreuse, Lady Chian, Lady Haelra, Lord Thurfel, Halfberry
Obvious exits: south, east, northwest.

Sorkin shivers.

Halfberry exclaims, "It was broken!"

Halfberry exclaims, "The mechanism!"

You say, "Ye own an island!"

Halfberry wails!

look statue -- The halfling is dressed in a greenish seaweed robe and wields a eel-like scepter in one hand. He has a sheepish grin on his face, and his eyes reflect a touch of madness.

Arimantis glances at a large statue.

Halfberry exclaims, "I try to fix!"

Thurfel says, "Broken my crabs shell, a child should have repaired it"

Haelra asks, "an Island?"

You hear the voice of Methais ask, "Got yer own island now eh?"

Haelra peers quizzically at Thurfel.

Halfberry whimpers.

Halfberry exclaims, "I fix it!"

Kitsun laughs!

Thurfel asks, "What else fell apart in my absence?"

Arimantis asks, "This where you been all these years?"

Arimantis glances at Thurfel.

A faint glint of reddish light appears in the shadows.
Setzier fades into sight next to you.

Halfberry exclaims, "Nothing! Is perfect place master!"

Setzier squints.

You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.

Ilvane frowns.

Haelra raises an eyebrow.

You point at a large statue.

Setzier glances at a large statue.

You ask, "Pose for it yerself?"

Thurfel asks, "you sure, I don't wish to toss you in the vat?"

Arimantis glances at Halfberry.

Halfberry says, "Well, some things"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Halfberry cringes.

Thurfel reaches out and holds Halfberry's hand.

Thurfel says, "We shall walk the island"

Halfberry says, "Halfberry is sorry"

Thurfel exclaims, "nothing better be amiss!"

You see Halfberry Berryfull the Halfling Wizard.
He appears to be in his 90's, has short, curly white hair, grey eyes, and fair skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a seaweed-covered staff in his right hand and an oversized bright blue rolaren shield in his left hand.
He is wearing some blue robes embroidered with silver stars and golden moons, a tall pointy blue hat, a pair of supple leather boots, and a large red key suspended from a braided seaweed cord.

Halfberry whimpers.

Setzier rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Haelra peers quizzically at Halfberry.

You ask, "An apprentice?"

[Thurfel's Island]
A simple path of smooth, flat stones leads off into the water to the southwest, ending here on a clean, white sandy beach. Small footprints lead in all directions, their paths crossing and recrossing dozens of times before leading off to the north.
Also in the room: Lady Chian, Lady Haelra, Halfberry, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: north, southwest.

Thurfel says, "this looks fine"

Halfberry beams!

You also see a crystalline crab.
Also in the room: Saphael, Lady Chian, Lady Haelra, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Sorkin, Lady Chantreuse, Halfberry, Lord Thurfel, Aelphaba
Obvious exits: west, northeast.

Thurfel says, "very good"

Thurfel nods to Halfberry.

You ask, "Halfberry are ye Lord Thurfel's apprentice?"

Haelra scowls.

You cock your head at Halfberry.

Halfberry cringes.

You join Thurfel.

[Raised Stone Path]
Small flat stones jut from the water, closely spaced such that even a halfling could scamper from rock to rock with no difficulty. The water sloshes gently over the path now and again, briefly covering the stones then sliding effortlessly off the smooth surfaces. You also see a crystalline crab.
Also in the room: Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: east.

Thurfel nods.

Halfberry exclaims, "Stones!"

Halfberry beams!

Halfberry asks, "See how well I fix?"

You ask, "He has been hidden here all these years?"

Thurfel nods.

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Ilvane smirks.

[Thurfel's Island]
Tall orange grass shaped in tight spirals covers the fine sand of this beach. The spring-like plants bounce upward with every passing breeze, the motion scattering the many tiny golden butterflies that are flittering about the stalks. You also see a wooden dock.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Sorkin, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: east, northwest, southeast.

A crystalline crab skitters in.

Thurfel says, "hmm"

Halfberry exclaims, "Master say to me, take care of it!"

Halfberry exclaims, "I do!"

Roelon says, "Odd place"

You say, "I played my bagpipes, Lord Thurfel, for yer serpent."

You say, "But she did not rise from the water."

Halfberry says, "Crab"

Halfberry shudders.

You chuckle at Thurfel.

Thurfel asks, "The monkeys have been fed?"

A bright green monkey closes the Arimantis disk!

Roelon says, "They have now"

Mirsen chuckles.

Ilvane giggles.

Arimantis chuckles.

A bright green monkey jumps up and slaps Joshell on the top of his head!

A short humanoid creature, covered in brown fur, and very agile. It has a long tail that it uses to help climb things and hold things. It looks very smart, and seems to be full of mischief.

Halfberry exclaims, "Monkey!"

You hear the voice of Methais say, "They seem in perfect health."

Ilvane chuckles.

[Thurfel's Island]
The pounding surf beats upon the shore with monotonous intensity, seeking nothing more than to make its presence felt. The constant slap of the waves has dragged off most of the sand within the area, and the slow erosion has revealed the tip of a buried object made of obsidian. It is impossible to discern what exactly is protruding from the sand. You also see a speckled tangerine crocodile, a stout bright orange monkey and a stout bright orange monkey.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: northeast, southeast.

A stout bright orange monkey jumps up and slaps Ilvane on the top of her head!
The monkey leaps up on Ilvane and pokes her in the eyes! The monkey then scrambles for cover!
You hear a muffled, "PPpPbPbpbptttt!"

You gawk at a speckled tangerine crocodile.

Ilvane flails her arms about.

Thurfel asks, "why is this buried?"

Arimantis stares at a stout bright orange monkey.

You say, "Oh my."

You point at a speckled tangerine crocodile.

Roelon says, "Nice boat..."

Roelon nods to Thurfel.

You gawk at Thurfel.

Thurfel smiles at you.

Saphael says, "Interesting, to say the very least."

Roelon says, "Ugly things, looks much like ye."

Saphael chuckles.

Thurfel says, "Perhaps now I can get back to work milady"

[Thurfel's Island]
A shallow tidepool filled with an assorment of bizarre critters sits amidst a congregation of smooth round stones. The crystal-clear water ripples softly, the tiny waves not seeming to bother the sea life within. Along the bottom of the pond, a sea star slowly glides along, each of its five arms wildly different. You also see a brilliant red crocodile.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: northeast, northwest, southwest.

You say, "It seems I was looking for the wrong color crocodile."

Halfberry exclaims, "Work, yes!"

Chantreuse nods to you.

Chantreuse smiles.

You say, "Thurfel, I am amazed, I must admit."

Haelra asks, "What's that star?"

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "It seemsss you...have been busy, yes."

A brilliant red crocodile roars and hisses menacingly.

Thurfel says, "well, you have impressed me so far Halfwit"

Halfberry asks, "See how nice master?"

You say, "Though I find ye stranger and stranger every time we meet."

Mirsen gazes in amazement at a brilliant red crocodile.

Halfberry beams!

Ilvane smirks.

Chantreuse says, "it's a starfish, I believe"

Methais glances at a sea star.

Aelphaba asks, "where do all the these creatures come from?"

Saphael exclaims, "A mutant one!"

Ilvane asks, "May I remind you all he is going to destroy the town?"

A large scaled lizard, with a wide gaping mouth full of sharp teeth, it has short powerful legs barely long enough to lift the beast off the ground. The crocodile also has a long powerful tail that looks rather dangerous.

Methais removes an ebony feather quill from in his leatherbound tome.

Thurfel says, "all is never as it seems is it Iscikella"

Ilvane gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

[Thurfel's Island]
The rear of the keep is constructed of thick palm fronds and hardened mud. A graceful tower of seashells has been built on one end and is topped with a huge flag that is fluttering overhead in the breeze. The flag is embroidered with a skull and crossbones overlaying a field of frosted tarts. You also see a bright green monkey, a speckled tangerine crocodile, a bright green monkey, a brilliant red crocodile, a stout bright orange monkey, a crystalline crab and a speckled tangerine crocodile.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Mirsen, Lord Thurfel, Lord Roelon
Obvious exits: east, northeast, southwest.

(Methais makes a rough sketch of the star for future reference.)

Methais pulls a small stylus from the binding of his leatherbound tome, scribbles something on a page, then puts the tool away.

You say, "Apparently not."

You gawk at Thurfel.

Ilvane giggles.

Thurfel exclaims, "The flag is not raised as high as it should be!"

Mirsen gazes in amazement at a speckled tangerine crocodile.

Haelra says, "Gods, tarts"

Thurfel thwaps Halfberry.

Halfberry cringes.

You say, "Which makes me wonder even more what lies beyond the tomb to interest ye so."

Arimantis gazes heavenward.

You say, "a man of such strange talents."

[Thurfel's Island]
A quiet inlet of water intrudes upon this portion of the island, a large sandbar just offshore sheltering the lagoon from the rough offshore waves. Giant crystal stakes topped with sapphire blue globes have been pounded into the sand, perfectly equidistant from each other. You also see a speckled tangerine crocodile, a stout bright orange monkey, a brilliant violet monkey and a crystalline crab.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Mirsen, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest.

You cough.

(Arimantis swats at the monkey on his head)

Halfberry says, "I will try harder master! It is hard to raise the flag"

Halfberry sighs.

You rub Halfberry.

Thurfel says, "very good, if not, you will be flying from it, not the cloth."

You hear the voice of Armaxis ask, "Mm, what are these stakesss for?"

Thurfel says, "Stakes are very versatile"

[Thurfel's Island]
Huge seabirds circle overhead, their raucous squawking filling the air as they idly glide above the beach. From time to time, one will swoop into the lake and come up with a wriggling fish trapped within its beak. You also see a brilliant red crocodile, a crystalline crab, a brilliant violet monkey, a brilliant violet monkey and a speckled tangerine crocodile.

Setzier glances at a brilliant red crocodile.

Iansen says, "This is... odd"

Iansen says, "Don't let your guard down..."

Thurfel says, "I see the seabirds are still here"

Mirsen says, "It's charming."

Mirsen says, "I love monkeys"

Thurfel asks, "have you trained them yet?"

Halfberry nods to Thurfel.

You ask, "Seabirds?"

Methais says, "Well, I'd be lying if I said this island wasn't exquisite."

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Halfberry says, "No master"

Thurfel bows to Methais.

Halfberry says, "They don't obey me"

Thurfel says, "very well, that is your first task."

Halfberry sighs.

Ilvane gazes heavenward.

You whisper quietly to Thurfel, "My, such wondrous creations! I will give ye yer due there, lord mage."

Thurfel says, "I wish the seabirds trained"

Halfberry nods to Thurfel.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "That...thing seemsss to like you."

Halfberry exclaims, "I can train them!"

Thurfel smiles at you.

Thurfel says, "well, I'm not sure, but I'll let you try"

Haelra says, "star fish, whatever they might be"

Methais says, "To me it is."

Saphael asks, "What sorts of seabirds?"

Thurfel says, "just don't stand under them"

Methais says, "Tis very...unique."

[Thurfel's Island]
A rusting metallic pyramid stands on an emerald green marble platform, nearly blocking the width of the beach. No doors or openings are apparent in the structure, and its four walls are etched with mysterious glyphs. You also see a deep pink monkey, a crystalline crab who appears rather calm, a crystalline crab who appears rather calm and a bright green monkey who appears rather calm.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Mirsen, Lord Thurfel, Lord Roelon

Roelon glances at a rusting metallic pyramid.

Ilvane gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

Arimantis glances at a rusting metallic pyramid.

Mirsen gazes with interest at a rusting metallic pyramid.

(Iscikella gazes up searching for the seabirds.)

The glyphs upon the pyramid have been deeply etched into the metal, each face bearing a unique image. One glyph is that of a cube with three dots within, one a sphere with two dots within, one a cylinder with a single dot, and the last, a tiny halfling handprint.

You gawk at a rusting metallic pyramid.

Setzier squints at a rusting metallic pyramid.

Thurfel asks, "you let this get rusty?"

Haelra glances at a rusting metallic pyramid.

Saphael says, "An intriguing pyramid."

Thurfel exclaims, "rusty!"

You exclaim, "So here is yer tale!"

You gawk at Thurfel.

Halfberry exclaims, "No! Clean it daily I do!"

Halfberry whines.

Zemnh says, "Shine it with his hide"

(Roelon places his hand on the small handprint on the pyramid.)

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "I see you've found the pyramid you ssspoke of."

Halfberry exclaims, "It rusts fast!"

Thurfel asks, "Then what is all that red grunge covering it?"

You hear the voice of Armaxis ask, "Or is thisss...another?"

Methais gestures at a rusting metallic pyramid.
A rusting metallic pyramid begins glowing something fierce.

You say, "The glyphs..."

Halfberry exclaims, "Hours, minutes sometime!"

You reach out and touch a rusting metallic pyramid.

Thurfel sighs.

Halfberry exclaims, "It rusts while I clean!"

Thurfel says, "it is so hard to get good help these days."

Nevea says, "eesh... youngins would love this"

Iansen says, "I agree..."

Nevea clasps her hand over her mouth.

Thurfel asks, "perhaps I shall take another apprentice eh Halfnose?"

Halfberry attempts to rub the structure with a soiled cloth.

Halfberry exclaims, "Nooo!"

Halfberry says, "I do better"

You say, "Ye keep an impressive menagerie, Lord Thurfel."

You say, "But the pyramid..."

Halfberry whimpers.

Thurfel asks, "you wish another chance?"

Setzier says, "I'm sure these distant cousins to humans are as easy to train as humans."

You reach out and touch a rusting metallic pyramid.

Halfberry nods to Thurfel.

Thurfel nods to Setzier.

Halfberry nods to Thurfel.

[Thurfel's Island]
Tiny plantlike eyestalks protrude from the sand and quickly whirl in unison with every passing motion. Closer inspection reveals slitted golden feline eyeballs at the end of the stalks, providing strong argument against the plant theory. The sand seems to shift and undulate underfoot, despite the lack of any breeze. You also see a crystalline crab, a deep pink monkey, a deep pink monkey, a bright green monkey, a florid mauve crocodile, a stout bright orange monkey, a bright green monkey, a florid mauve crocodile, a deep pink monkey, a brilliant violet monkey who appears rather calm, a bright green monkey who appears rather calm, a speckled tangerine crocodile and a speckled tangerine crocodile.

Nevea says, "hrm"

Thurfel asks, "has what a purpose?"

You ask, "The pyramid?"

Thurfel says, "of course it does"

Thurfel grins.

You rub your chin thoughtfully.

Chantreuse asks, "what are the glyphs, Thurfel?"

Chian waves her hand in a dismissive gesture.

Ilvane grins.

You ask, "Something secret, I take it?"

Halfberry exclaims, "Master, all these people, they ask me things!"

Halfberry whimpers.

Setzier says, "Intriguing plantlife."

Setzier leans back.

You rub Halfberry.

Chantreuse says, "the writings"

Saphael exclaims, "Such...tropical-looking creatures!"

Methais says, "But there's a big handprint on the pyramid, Halfberry."

Thurfel asks, "are these stalks in working order Halfbrain?"

Halfberry beams!

Chantreuse asks, "is it yours, Halfberry?"

Thurfel says, "they better be"

Haelra says, "I would think his glyphs are a simple trap to allow access into the pyramid"

[Thurfel's Island]
A tiny hill of stones is piled at the base of a tall tree with thin ropelike leaves. The plant has the trunk of a palm tree, but any resemblance ends at the tendrils growing from its top. Round orbs similar to the stones at the base are attached to the upper trunk. You also see a striped blue crocodile, a deep pink monkey who appears rather calm, a speckled tangerine crocodile, a crystalline crab, a crystalline crab, a stout bright orange monkey, a deep pink monkey, a florid mauve crocodile who appears rather calm, a crystalline crab, a crystalline crab who appears rather calm, a florid mauve crocodile and a speckled tangerine crocodile.

Setzier glances at a tall tree.

You say, "I did not think there were so many creations of yers, Lord Thurfel."

Thurfel says, "Don't forget to save those stones for the catupults, Halfsense."

You hear the voice of Armaxis ask, "I see thisss is the island you spoke of last time, surrounded with eyes and such...how long have you been frequenting here?"

Methais asks, "Heh, a monkey wearing an evening gown?"

You say, "Do forgive my ignorance in that."

Methais points at a deep pink monkey.

You cough.

Thurfel nods to you.

Halfberry says, "Yes master."

Haelra glances at Thurfel.

Ilvane says, "That it is."

Thurfel asks, "is the keep stocked full?"

You say, "It seems ye have quite the touch for this, Lord Thurfel."

Setzier waves a hand at the pink monkey, shooing it off.

Halfberry shuffles his feet.

You say, "Yet none for the tomb."

You cough.

Iansen says, "Looks like someone I know..."

Methais says, "Well, I have to say Thurfel, I've never seen a monkey wearing an evening gown until today."

Thurfel taps Halfberry quite hard.

Halfberry cringes.

Halfberry exclaims, "Yes, there is food master!"

Thurfel says, "one must dress his help appropriately"

Thurfel nods to Halfberry.

[Thurfel's Island]
A look to the cavern ceiling above reveals a few odd rippling masses of lichen overhead. The huge growth glows with an eerie green tint, and the illumination creates some very odd shadows upon the ground. All in all, it's a rather serene spot save for the half-buried skeleton protruding from the sand. You also see a crystalline crab, a deep pink monkey who appears rather calm, a crystalline crab, a florid mauve crocodile, a speckled tangerine crocodile who appears rather calm, a florid mauve crocodile and a brilliant violet monkey.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lord Kitsun, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Mirsen, Lord Thurfel

Thurfel asks, "and just who is that?"

You cock your head at Halfberry.

Thurfel points at a skeleton.

You glance at Thurfel.

Arimantis glances at a skeleton.

You glance at a skeleton.

Thurfel says, "I'm rather sure that was not here when I left"

Setzier glances at a skeleton.

Halfberry cringes.

Halfberry exclaims, "I don't know!"

Halfberry wails!

Ilvane mutters under her breath.

Iansen says, "It's not Faendryl... good"

Ilvane glares.

Haelra says, "Looks like one of Starsnuffer's relatives"

Iansen says, "If it were, Thurfel, we would have a major quarrel"

Haelra says, "With the fangs.."

Thurfel says, "How many times must I tell you to clean up the garbage"

Aelphaba asks, "these are your servants?"

Setzier says, "Rather looks like Blades' mother."

Setzier stares at a skeleton.

Thurfel says, "They were my servants"

Mirsen says, "A sea serpent skeleton, perhaps."

Halfberry says, "Yes master, I will attend to that. Make it go away if you want."

Thurfel says, "it appears they have decided to no longer obey me"

You blink at Thurfel.

You say, "ah..."

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "How...unfortunate."

You feel the blood drain from your face.

Thurfel says, "too long away from the island it seems with no good help to oversee it"

You glance at Thurfel.

Thurfel scowls at Halfberry.

Halfberry nods to Thurfel.

Halfberry nods to Thurfel.

Thurfel sighs.

Halfberry exclaims, "Yes, I am bad. I will try harder!"

[Thurfel's Island]
A massive clump of hand-crafted stone palm trees surrounds an artificial pond. The water-like substance making up the pool is a translucent blue material and is utterly lifelike, looking as if it were frozen in time. Two grooves are cut deep into the sand and lead off to the southwest. You also see a speckled tangerine crocodile, a florid mauve crocodile, a deep pink monkey who appears rather calm, a crystalline crab, a florid mauve crocodile, a crystalline crab, a deep pink monkey, a deep pink monkey, a speckled tangerine crocodile, a brilliant violet monkey, a florid mauve crocodile and a bright green monkey who appears rather calm.

Obvious exits: north, east, southwest.

Saphael says, "I'd say they seem to have minds of their own, if I thought they had minds."

Halfberry points out the nice weeding job.

Thurfel asks, "grooves Halfwit?"

Halfberry cringes.

Thurfel asks, "did you not rake the sand?"

Halfberry says, "Sand is slippery master"

Haelra asks, "Anything in that chest?"

Haelra fidgets.

You ask, "Halfberry, how many... garbage skeletons have ye needed to take out recently?"

Halfberry says, "I rake, it falls back"

You cock your head at Halfberry.

Thurfel says, "only the stuff within your two ears is slippery"

Halfberry whimpers.

You glance at Thurfel.

Roelon says, "Go see."

Roelon cackles!

[Thurfel's Island]
The looming wall of a strange-looking keep has been decorated with an odd assortment of seashells and hollowed coconuts. Perhaps it's just an illusion, but the pattern of shells suggests the shape of a tart. A splintery wooden ladder has been dragged along the sand and discarded. You also see a brilliant violet monkey, a florid mauve crocodile, a florid mauve crocodile that appears stunned, a clear tourmaline, a florid mauve crocodile, a striped blue crocodile, a green zircon, a golden beryl gem, a speckled tangerine crocodile who appears rather calm and a pink topaz.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Mirsen, Lord Kitsun, Lord Thurfel, Lord Victorvon
Obvious exits: west, northeast, southwest.

Thurfel asks, "you broke the ladder?"

Halfberry wails!

Look ladder -- Yep, definitely broken. Won't be using this to climb anything.

Thurfel asks, "you broke it?"

Halfberry says, "No no no"

Halfberry whimpers.

You say, "Surely not. Halfberry is small after all."

Thurfel asks, "Do you think ladders grow on trees?"

Arimantis snickers.

You cough.

Halfberry exclaims, "It was like that before!"

Roelon says, "You expect too much from that hobbit"

Roelon glances at Thurfel.

Iansen says, "Umm... ladders can come from trees"

Halfberry exclaims, "I fixed it, it's better then it was!"

Setzier says, "I'd string him up by his entrails, now you can't enter your keep."

Aelphaba says, "they can be built from trees..."

Setzier nods to Thurfel.

Thurfel asks, "Am I suppposed to run to the general store and buy a new one, is that it?"

Saphael asks, "Better...for what?"

Halfberry says, "Halfberry will fix it master"

Halfberry nods.

Thurfel says, "fine, you have one day to repair it"

Chian says, "If you want to use it Thurfel, then that might be the best course of action, yes."

You rub Halfberry.

Halfberry shudders.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Give him sssome incentive, Thurfel. Patch it up with the bones of his legs. That ought to get him working."

You say, "He is very hard on ye to be sure."

Thurfel asks, "perhaps you would like the job Iscikella?"

Aelphaba asks, "can't you get in without a ladder?"

Halfberry says, "Master is good to Halfberry"

Iansen says, "Not everyone thinks the way you do, Armaxis..."

Roelon smirks.

You cough.

Ilvane exclaims, "Well, look at all of these out of control animals!"

[Thurfel's Island]
A slate-tiled path leads to a small keep that has been constructed entirely of garishly colored stones. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this structure, only madness. The only visible entrance to this small castle is through a pink coral portcullis. You also see a crystalline crab, a florid mauve crocodile, a crystalline crab who appears rather calm, a brilliant violet monkey, a florid mauve crocodile, a deep pink monkey, a striped blue crocodile and a florid mauve crocodile.
Also in the room: Lord Methais, Halfberry, Lady Chantreuse, Journeyman Ilvane, Arimantis, Aelphaba, Saphael, Zemnh, Iansen, Mirsen, Lord Kitsun, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: east, west.

You say, "I don't think so."

You say, "Thank ye just the same, Lord Thurfel."

Methais says, "I don't think he'd be much capable of working with no legs, Armaxis."

Halfberry says, "Just and fair."

Ilvane asks, "You think he can handle a simple ladder?"

You say, "I think ye would find me... uh... stubborn."

You flash a wide grin.

Kitsun says, "egads"

Aelphaba starts chuckling at you!

Setzier asks, "Fair elves don't make good slaves, they're too weak boned. Perhaps you're in the market for some giants?"

Setzier glances at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "perhaps Setzier"

Ilvane grins.

(Setzier nods to himself.)

Thurfel asks, "can they use a ladder without breaking it?"

Roelon glances at Setzier.

Haelra nods to Setzier.

Setzier rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Setzier says, "Perhaps."

Setzier nods to Thurfel.

Haelra says, "besides, elven slaves are so overdone"

Iansen says, "I heard Sheruvian Faendryl actually work hard..."

Methais says, "Them big clumsy oafs? I doubt it."

Roelon points at a pink coral portcullis.

Roelon says, "Missed a spot."

Ilvane grins.

Roelon nods to Halfberry.

Thurfel says, "Feel free to roam the island if you wish, but I have business to attend to."

Thurfel says, "If you are here when I return, you will not be so welcome."

Halfberry says, "Yes master, warm food for you inside."

You glance at Thurfel.

Chian says, "Thank you for your hospitality, Lord Thurfel."

Chian bows to Thurfel.

You say, "Lord Thurfel, I hope we can speak again soon."

Joshell says, "How odd, to say the least."

Roelon says, "Acually kind."

Roelon snorts.

You hear the voice of Armaxis say, "Yesss, good evening to you then, Thurfel. If you've need of the Serpent Lord's faithful, you need only let me know."

Setzier says, "A blind monkey say that, Methais."

You squint at Thurfel.

Thurfel heads into the keep and slams the portcullis shut behind him.

You exclaim, "My goodness!"
