Dinner at Eight
Day of the Huntress, day 15 of the month Imaerasta in the year 5100

[Ice Gardens, Hollow Tree]
The massive tree is long since dead, but the hollowed-out interior is filled with a magical life of its own. Moisture seeping through the cracks and branches has formed a fairyland of icicles that reflect every color of the rainbow, and a colony of glittering snow sprites has taken up residence among the lacy icework, their gossamer wings shimmering as they dance among the lattices of ice and the hanging branches that drape the entrance.
Obvious paths: out.

A huge group of sprites flies out of the tree and, giggling, begins shaking one of the branches. They manage to dislodge a large clump of snow, which falls on your head! With much merriment they fly back into the tree, waving at you and laughing.

(Iscikella brushes the snow from her hair.)

You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.

You place a hand over your heart.

You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.

You are wearing a perfect yellow rose, a carved quartz hummingbird earring, a diamond wedding band, a glaes charm bracelet, a mint green silk moire shawl, a multi-gemmed quintuple ring medallion, a glass amulet, a crystal amulet, a translucent glaes spider charm, a butterfly charm, a delicate mint green silk bodice, an embroidered mint green silk skirt, a gold-belled anklet, a pair of mint green slippers, a quill pen tattoo and an overlapping circles tattoo.

Several of the icicles begin to drip a bit faster. One of the sprites flitters quickly into a hollow in the tree.

You blink.

You gaze up into the heavens.

You tilt your head up.

You wring your hands.

A lone sprite sits on a treebranch, singing a soft, clear song into the cold air.

Several sprites flee, clearly agitated.

You tilt your head up.

The temperature begins to rise, the delicate ice melting quickly.

You ask, "Thurfel?"

Fire begins to rage within the tree, its source becoming visible.

(Iscikella blinks at the fire.)

A ring of fire rages into existence.

You ask, "Is that ye, Lord Thurfel?"

A soft breeze blows, whispering through the branches and dusting snow over the area like cold confetti.

A small black serpent slithers into the ring and vanishes.

(Iscikella looks in the ring)

[Ice Gardens, Hollow Tree]
The massive tree is long since dead, but the hollowed-out interior is filled with a magical life of its own. Moisture seeping through the cracks and branches has formed a fairyland of icicles that reflect every color of the rainbow, and a colony of glittering snow sprites has taken up residence among the lacy icework, their gossamer wings shimmering as they dance among the lattices of ice and the hanging branches that drape the entrance. You also see a ring of blazing fire.

You ask, "Should I enter there?"

You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.

The ring begins to flicker, its energy starting to dim.

(Iscikella hesitates to step into the ring of fire.)

Four male sprites gather on a branch, pointing at you and giggling.

The fire rages, the ring melting the ice near.

You ask, "Lord Thurfel?"

You wring your hands.

Something changes within the ring, and a blust of air touches you.

You shudder.

A soft voice calls out, "please enter."

[Thurfel's Cabana]
Decorated with colorful coral, the interior of this hall is festive and cheery. Long strands of dyed seaweed dangle from the ceiling, the tips coated in phosphorescent moss. Several simple wooden chairs line one wall and face a large crystal desk in the center of the room. A handcrafted abalone serving tray holds refreshments for those visiting. You also see an elegant inlaid shell table, a pearl door and a coral door.
Also in the room: Flindyl, Lord Thurfel
Obvious exits: out.

Flindyl bows to you.

You curtsy to Thurfel.

You nod to Flindyl in greeting.

You say, "Good evening, Lord Thurfel."

Flindyl says, "Sirs! She's here."

Flindyl giggles.

Thurfel says, "very good"

You see Flindyl Beantree the Halfling Bard.
He appears to be in his 70's, has short, wavy silver hair, grey eyes, and tanned skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a small silver serving tray in his right hand.
He is wearing a golden carved haon mandolin set with amethysts, a dark royal purple velvet jerkin appliqued with gold silk diamonds, a pale lavender woven leine, a pair of dark gold velvet slops, and some royal purple silk tights.

Thurfel says, "Milady, this is Flindyl"

Flindyl grins.

Thurfel says, "He will be serving us this eve."

You say, "Good eve, Flindyl."

You smile at Flindyl.

Flindyl exclaims, "Evening, M'Lady!"

Flindyl asks, "Is ye a bits thirsty from yer journeys?"

You say, "I am sorry took me so long to get up the nerve to enter yer fire, Lord Thurfel."

Thurfel says, "Flindyl, would you go see that the door outside is secure."

Flindyl nods to Thurfel.

You say, "It seemed to resist my entrance."

Thurfel says, "I would not have us interrupted."

Flindyl exclaims, "Indeed Sirs!"

Thurfel says, "fire is not as stable as ice."

Thurfel says, "tis harder to control from great distances."

You nod to Thurfel.

Flindyl quickly steps outside.

Thurfel says, "I am glad you could join me this eve."

Thurfel removes a fiery red crystal rose from in his components satchel.

Thurfel offers you a fiery red crystal rose. Enter ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it. The offer will expire in 30 seconds.

You say, "As am I, Lord Thurfel."

You accept Thurfel's offer and are now holding a fiery red crystal rose.

Thurfel says, "a small gift."

You exclaim, "Oh, how lovely!"

You blush a delicate shade of pink.

You thumb your red crystal rose.

You say, "So delicate."

Thurfel says, "tis fitting, I believe a fire burns within you as well."

You say, "Well, some have said so, Lord Thurfel."

You chuckle.

The soft sound of a click is heard as the cabana door latches.

You say, "How true that is, I cannot say."

Flindyl slips back in quietly.

Thurfel asks, "Your husband had no second thoughts?"

Flindyl removes a glass of deep red burgundy wine from in his silver serving tray.

You say, "Nae, Lord Thurfel."

Thurfel says, "I have heard he treats you poorly."

Thurfel nods to Flindyl.

Flindyl glances up at Thurfel, waiting to be acknowledged.

Flindyl smiles.

Thurfel says, "please Flindyl, wine for the lady."

Flindyl says, "M'lady, a bits of wine."

Flindyl offers you a small silver serving tray. Enter ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it. The offer will expire in 30 seconds.

You say, "Well, my husband is a devotee of Mularos..."

Flindyl has cancelled the offer.

Flindyl coughs.

Flindyl offers you a glass of deep red burgundy wine. Enter ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it. The offer will expire in 30 seconds.

You accept Flindyl's offer and are now holding a glass of deep red burgundy wine.

Flindyl removes a glass of deep red burgundy wine from in his silver serving tray.

Thurfel says, "I hardly think she needs the entire tray Flin."

Flindyl giggles.

You say, "Thank ye, Flindyl."

Flindyl blushes a glowing shade of red.

Flindyl smiles at you.

You say, "I don't think I should drink quite that much."

You chuckle at Flindyl.

Flindyl exclaims, "My pleasures, m'Lady!"

Flindyl offers Thurfel a glass of deep red burgundy wine.

Thurfel accepts Flindyl's red burgundy wine.

You smile.

Thurfel says, "before we drink our wine."

Flindyl tucks the tray under his arm.

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You ask, "Aye?"

Thurfel says, "I would suggest a small moment to toast our eve."

Flindyl moves back to a discreet position against a far wall.

You smile at Thurfel.

Thurfel lifts his red burgundy wine to eye level and carefully examines it. Thurfel swirls the vintage liquid slightly, checking it for sediment or impurities.

Thurfel asks, "this from the deep cellar Flin?"

You raise up the red burgundy wine and inhale softly in order to better appreciate its aroma and bouquet.

You say, "Has a find bouquet."

Thurfel says, "I would not have her drinking the soldiers trough water."

Flindyl frowns slightly, as he tries to recall which barrel he drew it from.

You say, "Fine, that is."

Flindyl nods to Thurfel.

After peering carefully at his red burgundy wine for a moment, Thurfel takes the smallest of sips. You notice he lets the taste linger for a moment before swallowing.

Flindyl exclaims, "Yes Sirs! From one of the farthest barrels!"

Thurfel says, "tis worthy of ye milady"

Thurfel nods to Flindyl.

Thurfel says, "Flindyl has brought forth a great feast for you if you wish."

Thurfel points at an abalone serving tray.

You say, "Very good of ye to treat me to one of yer vintages, Lord Thurfel."

On the serving tray you see a small wedge of aged cheese, a small wedge of aged cheese, a small crusty loaf of bread, a small crusty loaf of bread, a deviled egg, a deviled egg, a buttered lobster tail, a buttered lobster tail, a plate of braised stuffed cockatrice, a plate of braised stuffed cockatrice, a flame-roasted buttery potato, a flame-roasted buttery potato, a buttery steamed artichoke, a buttery steamed artichoke, a cup of brandied coffee, a cup of brandied coffee, a mixed-berry tart and a mixed-berry tart.

You exclaim, "My!"

(Iscikella gazes appreciatively at the tray.)

Flindyl says, "If m'Ladys would prefer something else, I can go check the kitchens."

Flindyl glances at you.

You say, "Nae, it looks delicious."

You smile at Flindyl.

You put a fiery red crystal rose in your silk moire shawl.

You remove a buttery steamed artichoke from on an abalone serving tray.

You smile at Flindyl.

Flindyl smiles at Iscikella shyly, embarassed.

With a studied eye, you carefully examine your red burgundy wine. You swirl it about slightly, then peer into the glass, checking the liquid for any sediment or impurities.

You grin.

Thurfel asks, "delicious?"

Thurfel removes a buttered lobster tail from on an abalone serving tray.

You take a bite of your steamed artichoke.

Thurfel manages to take a bite of a buttered lobster tail, which is on an abalone serving tray.

You exclaim, "Oh, lovely!"

Thurfel takes a bite of his lobster tail.

You say, "Ye prepared the artichokes to perfection, Flindyl."

Flindyl blushes a glowing shade of red.

(Iscikella lifts her glass in toast.)

Thurfel asks, "I would know why you stay with one that treats you so despicably?"

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

You say, "Well, that is a long story, milord."

You ask, "Know ye anything of sylvan community?"

Thurfel pulls a piece off the lobster.

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You take a bite of your steamed artichoke.

Thurfel says, "not much to be sure."

You say, "It is very different than ye independent halflings."

You say, "One of the reasons I love this town."

Thurfel nods.

You say, "In community, everything is done by... old tradition."

You say, "The communal mind is what is important."

Thurfel says, "tradition."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "that would be a problem I think"

You say, "The Council of Hierophants rule, but it isn't exactly ruling."

You say, "Least as it was in my community."

You say, "But they are expected always to do what will benefit the community."

You say, "Over individuals."

You say, "And marriages are planned for this reason."

Thurfel says, "that hardly serves to reward hard work."

Thurfel says, "or instigate any creativity."

You say, "I do not mean to make it sound... harsh. Community provides a... feeling of belonging like nowhere else."

You smile at Thurfel.

You say, "But ye see I am a stubborn one..."

You chuckle.

You say, "And rather independent for a sylvan."

You wink at Thurfel.

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

Thurfel says, "I imagine failure is impossible with no accountability. Easy to feel secure in that environment."

Thurfel asks, "so your husband was thrust upon you?"

Thurfel asks, "with no choice?"

You say, "No, another was to be my spouse and was why I left community."

You say, "And came here to IceMule."

Thurfel nods.

You say, "But I was very naive."

Thurfel picks off another small piece of lobster.

You say, "Very."

You chuckle.

You say, "I would have made ye laugh, I think."

Thurfel nods.

Thurfel says, "but they would have the 'balance' ye seek I would think"

You say, "And I got involved with a dark elf... A mistake because he was... well... an odd one."

You say, "Aye to a large extent that is true."

You say, "But then again, sometimes change is needed in balance as well."

Thurfel takes a bite of his lobster tail.

You say, "And in community there isn't change."

You shake your head.

Thurfel nods.

You say, "Being sylvan, dark elves kind of frighten me. Or did at that time. Because of the reputation of what they had done so long ago."

You say, "Summoning demons."

You say, "And I let this dark elf control me. Until Blizzerdd came along..."

Thurfel says, "Imagine Flin...."

Thurfel says, "going to all the trouble to summon demons..."

Flindyl cocks his head at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "when you can simply build them yourself."

Flindyl grins.

You grin wryly.

Thurfel nods to you.

You say, "I suppose dark elves are not as creative as halflings."

Flindyl says, "Yes Sirs, tis very sillys."

You wink at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "I would simply think if you summoned something..."

Thurfel says, "it would likely not be terribly happy"

Thurfel says, "thus far harder to control."

Thurfel says, "hardly useful."

You nod to Thurfel.

You say, "That would seem reasonable in light of history."

Thurfel says, "worse.."

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

Thurfel says, "if ye summon something more powerful then ye are.."

You take a bite of your steamed artichoke.

Thurfel says, "ye would likely be under its control."

Thurfel shakes his head.

You nod to Thurfel.

You say, "A definite possibility."

Thurfel says, "I do hope some mixed up sorceror doesn't find the gate to bring in those beasts."

You shudder.

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "I have far more important things to worry about, then defending myself from an onslaught of winged terrors."

Thurfel says, "but do go on"

Thurfel says, "lobster is quite nice Flin, you did a good job."

Thurfel takes a bite of his lobster tail.

You say, "But with regard to Blizzerdd, he taught me to assert myself in many things... But there are dark things in him... things he does not control well..."

You say, "And those things... well... sometimes they get the better of him."

Flindyl bows to Thurfel.

You say, "Simply the way it is."

You say, "And I have come to accept it."

Flindyl says, "Fresh this mornings, I gots them."

Thurfel asks, "and your love for him overcomes his inability to treat you with respect?"

You say, "Perhaps because I am sylvan is why... don't know about that. We sylvans tend to be very loyal."

You say, "But sometimes..."

You sigh.

You say, "Well, it is difficult."

Flindyl glances at a tiny spot on the desk and reaches out to polish it surreptitiously.

You say, "I don't deny it."

Thurfel asks, "and he is the only man you have had feelings for?"

Thurfel says, "sometimes time is all one needs to gain wisdom."

You say, "Aye, perhaps that is true."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

Thurfel says, "I am hardly the expert."

Thurfel chuckles.

You smile at Thurfel.

You ask, "Is there such a thing as an expert in such matters?"

You say, "I think we all stumble along as best we can in such regard."

Thurfel says, "there are surely some who claim to be"

Thurfel grins.

You ask, "Emotions are difficult to control, don't ye find?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "I've heard tell I have a bit of a temper"

Thurfel chuckles.

Flindyl examines his fingernails.

You say, "I've noticed."

You cough.

You clasp a hand over your mouth.

You grin impishly.

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

Thurfel looks down.

Thurfel shakes his head.

Thurfel exclaims, "foul magics!"

Thurfel chuckles.

You say, "The wine is excellent, Lord Thurfel."

You take a bite of your steamed artichoke.

Thurfel says, "thank you, I am glad to share it with thee."

Thurfel says, "I did wish to discuss some matters though other than your husbands apparent inability to treat you like a lady"

Thurfel takes a bite of his lobster tail.

You say, "I am certain ye did, Lord Thurfel."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel looks around, then simply wipes his buttery fingers off on his robes.

You ask, "May I ask ye a question?"

Thurfel says, "well, if it's about why I don't have a napkin, no."

You chuckle at Thurfel.

You say, "Nae, is not about that."

Thurfel says, "then of course."

Flindyl coughs.

You say, "We won't embarrass Flindyl that way."

You wink at Flindyl.

Flindyl giggles.

Flindyl blushes a glowing shade of red.

You ask, "I was wondering... When ye helped with the founding of this town with the others of the Ten, did it not turn out as ye had wished?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You ask, "The governing of it?"

Thurfel rubs his chin.

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

Thurfel says, "well...."

Thurfel says, "truth be told..."

Thurfel says, "governing is hardly a job I wish"

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "there are things I find quite satisfactory in the town"

Thurfel says, "the study of magic is clearly of importance"

You say, "For a wizard, I would imagine very much so. A first love and all that."

You smile at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "but the irreverence and lack of responsibility amongst a majority of the folks is disheartening"

You say, "ah..."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "it would seem the townsfolk are content to sled all day"

Thurfel chuckles.

You say, "Halflings are such independent sorts..."

You nod to Thurfel.

You chuckle.

Thurfel says, "There is commerce to be had, industry to be built."

Flindyl says, "Tarts to be eaten..."

Thurfel says, "the town is simply a backwater haven for a few taverns and a herd of giggling halflings"

Thurfel nods to Flindyl.

You chuckle at Flindyl.

Flindyl winks.

You ask, "So ye would wish it more... organized in the sense of a world force?"

You ask, "Am I understanding yer meaning?"

Thurfel says, "I hardly think Icemule will gain any standing in the world if its major export is tarts and snow."

You sigh.

You say, "I suppose that is true."

Thurfel says, "if my goal was to open a breakfast inn..."

Thurfel says, "I'd be delighted."

You say, "I just find yer race so... stubbornly good-hearted."

Thurfel says, "one can be good hearted and industrious."

You say, "I suppose that is a generalization, but this sylvan was a lost wood-elf who was taken in here."

Thurfel chuckles.

You smile at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "you have heard the tale of the ant and the grasshopper I am sure"

You say, "Aye, I have."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "there is nary an ant in Icemule"

Thurfel chuckles.

You chuckle at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "and it will likely come to haunt the town one day."

You sigh softly.

You say, "That is perhaps too..."

You say, "...true."

Flindyl tries to rearrange the food on the tray into a more pleasing arrangement, inconspicuously.

Thurfel says, "I wish to open my keep soon, but I'm concerned."

Thurfel says, "those look good Flin"

Thurfel removes a flame-roasted buttery potato from on an abalone serving tray.

You ask, "And what concerns ye, Lord Thurfel?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You say, "Aye, they do, Flindyl."

(Iscikella glances over the tray and then chooses a particularly tasty looking potato.)

Flindyl says, "I made the tarts just a couple hours ago, m'Lady."

You remove a flame-roasted buttery potato from on an abalone serving tray.

Flindyl smiles at you.

Thurfel says, "that my keep will be filled with curious folks and those who seek glory by challenging my staff."

Thurfel takes a bite of his buttery potato.

Thurfel asks, "Flin, sale on butter in town or something?"

Flindyl giggles.

You say, "Well, I cannot say that will not happen."

You say, "I wish I could, but I cannot."

Thurfel says, "and therein is the trouble milady"

You take a bite of your buttery potato.

Thurfel says, "I wish the folks in town no ill will"

Thurfel says, "indeed...."

Thurfel says, "I was attacked the other day for no good cause"

Thurfel says, "nearly slain."

You nod to Thurfel.

You say, "Aye..."

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

You say, "That was most disturbing."

Thurfel says, "if folks should decide to rampage through my keep..."

Thurfel says, "it might be looked at as a sign of..."

Thurfel says, "hmm"

Thurfel says, "well, war upon me."

You say, "And we did tell folk to stay away from the island this past Feast Day as well, but..."

You sigh.

You say, "We could not keep them away."

Thurfel asks, "could I have clearly warned them more?"

You say, "I thought the warning very clear."

Thurfel says, "then I would ask that you do your utmost to let the folks know..."

You say, "And I told those who spoke to me of coming to the island as well that they should not."

You take a bite of your buttery potato.

Thurfel says, "the town is very safe, they have nothing to fear."

Iscikella smiles appreciatively at Flindyl.

Thurfel says, "but I have a great deal of work to accomplish"

You say, "The potato is excellent as well, Flindyl."

You say, "Lord Thurfel, this work... opening the tomb..."

Flindyl smiles up at Iscikella brightly.

Thurfel says, "and I can't complete it if my staff is having to fend off warriors and mages."

(Iscikella looks concerned.)

Thurfel licks a bit of the butter off his fingers.

Thurfel takes a bite of his buttery potato.

You say, "I will admit to ye it frightens me..."

You say, "I do not think those entombed will simply say, "Well, entombed for a century but no matter."

You sigh.

Thurfel says, "if ye shattered a favorite bottle...."

Thurfel says, "yet found that a treasure ye hadn't known was inside it..."

Thurfel says, "ye have lost something..."

Thurfel says, "yet gained something"

You ask, "And IceMule is the bottle in this case?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel chuckles.

Thurfel says, "I don't believe Icemule in grave danger should I open the tomb."

You furrow your brow, probably adding a wrinkle or two in the process.

You ask, "And ye believe what lies beyond of such importance?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You take a bite of your buttery potato.

Thurfel asks, "You have heard the rumors aye Flin?"

You peer quizzically at Flindyl.

Flindyl rubs his chin thoughtfully.

You ask, "Rumors of?"

Flindyl says, "A bits of whispers here and there. The markets was a slight abuzz."

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

Flindyl nods to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "well, we both know the rumors of the council members."

Thurfel says, "but as I've told you in the past.."

Thurfel says, "if they are indeed entombed there..."

Thurfel says, "I shall free them, and thus they will be in my debt"

You say, "I suppose I see the logic of that, but... I fear for IceMule. I cannot help doing so."

Thurfel says, "however, I believe there to be possibly a large city or cavern or tunnelway within that tomb."

You ask, "Ah, and ye believe they have traveled from the tomb already then?"

Thurfel says, "The knowledge to be found in unearthing it could be incredible."

Thurfel says, "they could be simply dust....."

Thurfel says, "or they could be far worse."

Thurfel says, "when I finally succeed in opening the tomb.."

Thurfel says, "we shall find out"

You say, "A city beneath the tomb..."

You rub your chin thoughtfully.

You ask, "An ancient city?"

Thurfel says, "or it could simply be the grave of a penniless halfling"

Thurfel chuckles.

Thurfel says, "that is my thought milady"

Thurfel nods to you.

Thurfel takes a bite of his buttery potato.

You ask, "And when IceMule was built here, was it rumored then this ancient city or tunnel might lie here?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

Thurfel says, "I did not find out the tales myself until recently...."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "I do believe they have enough to make them more substantial then simply rumors."

Thurfel says, "Interesting how you kept the skin crisp Flin."

Thurfel takes a bite of his buttery potato.

You say, "Well, I did think ye believed them more than that to go to so much trouble on this."

You nod to Thurfel.

Flindyl discreetly pulls one leg on his tights up to slow its descending creep.

Thurfel says, "so my concern is that if indeed I should open my keep...."

You glance at Flindyl.

You wink at Flindyl.

Flindyl says, "A verra hot flame, Sirs."

Thurfel says, "many innocent folks in Icemule would be slain"

You sigh.

You say, "Likely they would be."

Thurfel says, "if a town declares war upon me..."

Thurfel says, "I must defend myself"

You say, "I cannot fault ye for that, though I am myself something of a pacifist. Being sylvan does have its... oddities."

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

You wink at Thurfel.

Thurfel smiles.

You ask, "May I ask ye about the island a bit?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel nods.

You take a drink from your red burgundy wine.

You ask, "How was it just a spot of such tropical type climate came to reside in this city upon the glacier? Just the pockets of hot gases making it so?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

You ask, "Or did ye created the temperature?"

You say, "Create..."

Thurfel chuckles.

Thurfel says, "this cavern is vast, massively so"

Thurfel says, "my island is hardly more than a speck within it."

Thurfel says, "it may be cold upon the surface..."

Thurfel says, "but the climate within the cavern is far more hospitable."

You nod to Thurfel.

You ask, "And ye came to explore the caverns when the town was being built? Or later?"

You take a bite of your buttery potato.

Thurfel says, "the island in its pure form was here well before the town was built"

(Iscikella delicately pulls at the skin of the potato with her fingers.)

Thurfel says, "the keep and beach created long after."

You nod.

You ask, "And was my pyramid always here?"

Thurfel says, "I was far more interested in commerce years ago"

Thurfel grins.

Thurfel waggles his finger at Iscikella.

You say, "Metal pyramid."

You blush a delicate shade of pink.

Thurfel says, "that is a secret that I will not give up I'm afraid."

You say, "Seems I am a bit flustered."

You say, "Ah..."

Thurfel says, "but perhaps if ye wish a pyramid"

Thurfel says, "we can build one for ye."

Thurfel grins.

You grin at Thurfel.

You say, "A tempting offer."

Thurfel takes a bite of his buttery potato.

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

You ask, "Flindyl, have ye worked for Lord Thurfel many years?"

You cock your head at Flindyl.

Flindyl says, "A good many, m'Ladys."

Flindyl smiles at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "one of my staff that actually rarely makes mistakes."

You smile at Thurfel.

Flindyl bows to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "Were Witlass here serving dinner, it would be on your lap"

Flindyl says, "Tis a kind Sirs, he is."

Flindyl chuckles.

You chuckle.

Thurfel says, "if it were Rills, we'd be having dry biscuits and water."

You say, "Rills is rather... grim."

You flash a wide grin.

Thurfel says, "but a good soldier."

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

You nod.

You say, "So I have seen."

You say, "Soldiery is something rather foreign to me."

Thurfel asks, "will you tell the folks I have no wish to go to war?"

You nod to Thurfel.

You say, "I will."

Thurfel says, "I don't mind them running about the island..."

Thurfel says, "it gets a bit overcrowded from time to time..."

You say, "But I cannot guarantee their peacefulness, as I am sure ye know."

You say, "But tell them I surely can and will."

Thurfel says, "I understand, I simply wish the townsfolk to know that if war comes upon them, it will be by their own hand."

You nod.

Thurfel takes a bite of his buttery potato.

You ask, "The animals ye experiment with, Lord Thurfel... ye once said ye did so to make useful creatures... How did yer interest in such begin?"

You cock your head at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "good help is hard to find, I decided it might be easier to create it"

Thurfel says, "didn't always work out that way unfortunately"

You feel the blood drain from your face.

You say, "I can imagine."

Thurfel says, "The staff is still cleaning the mess in the dungeon area."

Thurfel says, "One mistake..."

Thurfel says, "and the work of many years was ruined."

Thurfel chuckles.

Thurfel says, "my own fault this time though"

Thurfel says, "I would have sworn the manacles thick enough."

You ask, "Ah... I hope no... casualities amongst the staff?"

You cough.

Thurfel asks, "It hasn't been sighted again has it Flin?"

You glance at Flindyl.

Flindyl looks over at Thurfel and shakes his head.

Flindyl says, "No Sirs, not to my knowing."

Thurfel says, "I pray you are not the one who finds it milady"

Thurfel says, "my first attempt at a troll and ogre failed quite miserably"

You ask, "I take it this is not a creature one would want to meet alone in an alley?"

Thurfel shakes his head.

(Iscikella stares wide-eyed at Thurfel.)

You ask, "And it got loose?"

Thurfel says, "I'm afraid it did"

You exclaim, "Oh!"

You clasp a hand over your mouth.

You say, "Distressing news indeed."

Thurfel says, "its somewhere on the island"

Thurfel says, "we think"

Thurfel chuckles.

You ask, "So the hunters here should be somewhat wary I take it?"

You blink at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "the hunters here should always be wary"

Thurfel chuckles.

You grin wryly.

You say, "True."

Thurfel says, "I have to send the spiders out to feed on occasion"

Thurfel says, "they are just as partial to giantmen as they are to monkeys."

You say, "I did not like the sea spiders that came from the lake that one night, when ye first raised the stones."

Thurfel says, "they were the smaller spiders"

You say, "Seems a bit... too industrious with those webs."

You cough.

Thurfel nods to you.

Thurfel takes a drink from his red burgundy wine.

You ask, "I see ye have an instrument, Flindyl. Do ye play?"

You smile at Flindyl.

Flindyl blushes a glowing shade of red.

Flindyl says, "In me spare moments. When the sun is about to set."

Flindyl smiles at you.

Flindyl says, "Or the first of dawn."

You say, "a fine mandolin, ye have."

Thurfel says, "we have a grand view from atop the keep"

Flindyl says, "Sirs Thurfel boughts it for me."

Flindyl smiles at Thurfel.

You smile at Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "although Flin travels to town to see the sunsets."

Thurfel says, "we have none in here."

You nod.

Thurfel says, "although the glowing moss is pretty."

You say, "Being underground..."

Flindyl grins.

Thurfel says, "milady, I fear I must retire for the evening"

Thurfel just kissed you on the hand.

You say, "I have seen that moss. Make me blink first time I saw it."

You nod to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "but your company was quite welcome this evening."

You say, "I pray I have not been a burden."

You curtsy to Thurfel.

Thurfel says, "hardly, it was a pleasure"

Thurfel etches a glyph upon the door.

Thurfel says, "if ye go out, ye will find yourself back in your town."

You nod to Thurfel.

You say, "A good eve to ye, milord."

Thurfel says, "you will not have to step over my monkeys and alligators."

You say, "and to ye, Flindyl."

Thurfel grins.

Flindyl bows to you.

You chuckle at Thurfel.

Thurfel bows to you.

Flindyl exclaims, "And ye, m'Ladys!"

You say, "I am still waiting on a teal one."

Thurfel grins.

You say, "Good night."
